About Us

What does the Council do?

Not only does the ISC lobby the university and the VUWSA, but the ISC puts on many meaningful activities and events.  It also provides information, support, liaison and advocacy for international students.  In addition, the ISC runs a website (www.iscvuw.org.nz) to promote international student life at Victoria , as well as hosting a web forum for students to post questions, concerns, and socialize online.

Who can be a member?

Any student at Victoria University is eligible for membership.  However, the Council focuses on concerns of international students’, and so is composed primarily of international students.

Why Join?

As an international student, it is a good opportunity to commit to fellow students and make a difference in your university life.  While at university, especially in a foreign country, there are experiences and activities to involve yourself in outside of study, and the ISC is a gateway to exploring what New Zealand , as well as your fellow international students, can offer.  Meeting new students and extending your circle of friends will not only make you feel more comfortable in your surroundings, but it may even help you with your studies!

Where and when does the council meet?

The council will usually meet several times per trimester, most often in the Union building at the Kelburn campus, or at the Pipitea campus.
